Wishing You A Merry And Meatless Christmas

Christmas is not only a time to commemorate the birth of Jesus Christ, but also a period when Christians and non-Christians meet to share a meal together. Even though Covid-19 has changed things for us, let’s try to remember the main essence of this season and make it as magically as we can for us and our loved ones.

In a previous post I talked about some traditional Christmas recipes that you can prepare and enjoy as a family this season but a vegan will not go for the meaty dishes as highlighted in the Traditional Christmas recipes for UK and Ireland

To supplement on that ‘limitless’ post, I decided to write a new post for all of our vegan friends.

Below are some recipes for vegans and all those who will like to have a meatless Christmas this year.

Sticky Toffee Pudding

This is a British dessert made with chopped dates and covered in toffee sauce. It is served with vanilla ice-cream or vanilla custard.

Butter Roasted Sweet Potatoes

A great Christmas dish that you can try at home and enjoy with family. It entails butter-roasting thick sweet potato slices. It requires just sweet potato, salt and butter. It can be eaten as a side dish with pork or chicken by non-vegans. Checkout the recipe.

Vegan M‘hanncha

It is a wrap up of smashed vegetable and grains in a snake-like manner. It is made using Morocco’s warkha pastry or can be substituted with filo pastry. The outside is crunchy while the middle is soft. M’hancha can be prepared quite large to serve for social gatherings whereby guests will break it into small portions.

Kale and Black Bean Burritos

You can try this flavour-packed and healthy burrito recipe cooked with lime-marinated greens and black beans. This simple recipe will be a great dish for vegans and those who want a meatless Christmas.

Miso-grilled augerbine and Cucumber Pickle Rice Bowl

As presented in Jamie Oliver, it is “A delicious meat-free grilled aubergine – just like the ticket when time is short.” You will need cucumber, caster sugar, Japanese rice vinegar, sushi rice, sweet white miso, rice wine, onions and of course aubergines. You may add sesame seeds as an option.

Sizzled Sprouts with Pistachios and Pomegranate

This will serve as a side dish most especially for vegans and those who want to have a meatless Christmas spread. Sprouts fried in a pan using olive oil with pomegranate seeds and roughly chopped pistachios. You can add drizzled pomegranate molasses.

Do share this post with your vegan friends and family. Don’t forget sharing is caring! That should be our “watch phrase” this Christmas. Have a yummy merry Christmas!
