Our world is getting so hectic and busy with the passage of time. Stress is so common. How many of us really dedicate some time to nurture our emotional and mental health? As a working mum, it can be difficult to regularly have a brain or mind dump day. Last year, I made lots of excuses and the lockdown period really helped me to dedicate a bit of time to cleanse my mind. A brain/mind dump refers to the day in which you focus on your thoughts and get them out of your head by either talking to someone or writing them down. There are so many benefits of having a brain/mind dump day which will be highlighted in this post
Having a brain dump day is a good practice as it also provides significant benefits and will enable you to work more effectively. So, let’s explore some benefits of brain dump days.
Helps you to feel your emotions
During the brain dumping process, you’d be able to analyse your every emotion more effectively. Everyone has many thoughts on their mind, and they can easily get blocked with all the stresses of life. So, when this process is over, you will start looking at your emotions more positively.
Brain dumping allows all your emotions to move around your head so you can convert and label them as either good or bad depending on the situation.
Improve problem-solving skills
The purpose of brain dumping is to keep you centered/focused for some days. Once the process is over, you’d feel so relaxed, light, and active. Brain dumping will overwhelm all your thoughts and improve your thinking powers. Once you start thinking effectively, you will solve your problems actively and wisely.
Moreover, it clears your mind, improves decision-making, and enables the mind to focus on more important things. When we are stressed, our problem-solving capabilities are suppressed. It is essential to clear all the thoughts that negatively affect our decisions and life goals.
Uncover repressed thoughts
A brain dump is a good form of exercise, but many of us are afraid of it. In brain dumping, everything mixes, and our thoughts could be seen as though they’re not in our control. Brain dumping helps us to identify and discover the source of stress, fear, anxiety, worry, and anger. This will enable us to quickly resolve those issues and situations that repress our thoughts.
Makes you feel accomplished
Some of us avoid the brain dumping exercise, because we do not want to come face-to-face with our current reality or to identify our thoughts more clearly. If you make a note of all these thoughts once the process is over, you will feel more grounded and accomplished in yourself. You’d have a check list of your tasks to keep you focused such you can perform them more effectively.
A brain dump day will also boost your self-esteem in addition to providing you with a greater sense of accomplishment. These elevated senses will allow you to perform all tasks in a well-organised way.
The process of brain dumping will help strengthen our minds, thoughts, and emotions. It overwhelms the brain so we can act more intuitively. Moreover, it also helps us to understand the situation at hand when the stress level has exceeded a certain threshold. It is an analytical way to eliminate stressful situations and make ourselves content and stronger.
