Storms by nature, will come and go, just like the challenges in life. How we respond to such storms will make all the difference. Everyone you meet is going through a storm in one way or the other. We need a world filled with tolerant, kind and compassionate people and the post today will encourage us to stop fighting the storm and learn to sail with it.
We spend most of our precious moments whinging and complaining about everything around us. We get grumpy when it rains instead of thinking that our precious plants could do with the water. When the sun is out we moan that it’s too hot and bright. Honestly what are we humans like?

You and I have just one chance on this planet and I think it’s about time for us to stop fighting any storm, enjoy every moment or at least learn to sail with it. Our lives should not be put on hold while waiting for an improvement or the perfect opportunity.
We can not wait for the right moment, or pause a storm to be happy. According to Gerard Way, ‘being happy does not mean that everything is perfect. It means that you have decided to look beyond the imperfections.’ Time is precious, it waits for no one, so use let’s use this time wisely.
What inspired me to write this post today is due to the current global Covid-19 pandemic. I have really enjoyed the slow pace of life and the opportunity to focus on the things that really matter. Zoom and MS Teams been a lifesaver to help us keep in touch with loved ones.
I love this popular quote which was first of all anonymous but now it’s been attributed to Vivian Greene.
“Life isn’t about waiting for the storm to pass… It’s about learning to dance in the rain.”
Before Covid, we were just too busy looking for ways to sort out one challenge or another. We now need to develop a strong mindset that will help us overcome our challenges without compromising on our happiness. Problems do not tell you when they come, so planning to enjoy your life after overcoming them may seem ridiculous.
So, what’s the last year been trying to tell us? It is encouraging us to never take a day, anyone or anything for granted and for us to stand firm in what we believe. It is telling us not to sit quiet in the face of a pandemic but to do everything we can to protect ourselves, those around us and be accommodating and tolerate to others as well.
Challenges and difficulties are a part of the life in which we live in this world. The storms, hurricanes and tornadoes will always come. How we handle it all depends on us, but stopping it may be impossible. You may find it difficult coping with bad situations, but then, your overall happiness should not be compromised by the storms.
I have lost loved ones and go through terrible situations in my life. My feelings have been hurt, people I loved turned out to betray me. Some bad decisions landed me into trouble and the people you expect to lift you up will go behind your back and tell ‘you are not worthy’ enough.

When I look back at such situations and the way I handled them, I now think I could have done better. On the other hand, I am grateful for the wisdom and knowledge gained from those life experiences.
In any of life’s bleak situation, try to find the best perspective to follow while looking for the silver lining. It is very necessary for you to look for something optimistic when you are faced with challenges in life. I know many people usually choose the negative when faced with challenges. You got choices to make. It is either you choose a negative of a positive response.
When facing the storms in life, focus on the positive. Try to find a reason to appreciate the things around your. Albert Einstein rightly said that ‘if you want to live a happy life, tie it to a goal, not to people or objects.
