Most of the time we talk of patience and forget about its best companion, the power of persistence. When I started Uplifting and Inspiring Content, I couldn’t believe I will still be doing it until now. My husband also had his doubts about this project. What has really kept me going all these while? That’s how you know persistence is a very powerful tool– without which your full potential will never be achieved. Persistence, just like patience is one of the key ingredients needed to succeed.

One thing for sure is that when things are not going on smoothly, it becomes difficult to continue. The worst part of it is when you can’t even guarantee the success of all your efforts. However, there is one thing that is guaranteed – if you quit, you will never meet up your goal. Success comes with commitment and persistence.

Quoting Bill Bradley, ‘Ambition is the path to success. Persistence is the vehicle you arrive in’. I have come to realise that what has really driven me up until now is my level of persistence. I may not have been consistent in what I put out there, but I didn’t give up. Persistence is when you persevere and you don’t give up in the midst of obstacles and challenges. All success comes because of persistence.

The power of persistence is found in every success story you have heard or read. Its attributes can be commonly seen in the business world. The journey of an entrepreneur is usually stormy and full of obstacles. They will stumble and sometime even fall, yet they keep on moving. They are aware that failure and rejection is what they have to bear in order to succeed.

Since I started this blog last year, I have encountered a lot of obstacles, failures and rejections that would have made me quit. I have worked hard to overcome all due to the power of persistence in me. You need to have that winning attitude in everything you are passionate about. The main difference between losers and winners is that the latter never gives up. Losers quit when the road is bumpy and adversity comes in. Meanwhile achievers take the path others won’t take.

So how can you instill this persistent attitude? The answer is very simple. You need to know what you want, make up your mind to get it and relentlessly pursue it and you will successfully get it. You have to make up your mind to overcome failure. Roy T. Bennett says “Do not fear failure but rather fear not trying.”

Michael Jordan said “I’ve failed over and over and over again in my life. And that is why I succeed.” He’s telling us that his success came because he didn’t quit, but persisted. It wasn’t about his talent, it was all about persevering when the obstacles and challenges kept coming. Persistence separates winners from the losers. Those who make up their minds to achieve something in particular and focus their minds without being deterred usually get what they want.
