It is normal to have a task that we are not keen or interested to complete. We neglect this job even if it causes us stress. The feeling that it might take days and nights to complete this task will make us put it far down on our daily schedule. How then do we get things done even when we do not like to do them?

There are days when your motivation is so low, and you do not want to do anything. It can be anything from house chores, office work, writing projects, developing plans, and so on. The post today will highlight some tips and tricks to motivate you to complete any task accordingly and not push it aside.

So, without further ado, let us dive into them.

Think about the future.

Write down your daily intentions, plans and desired goals. This is the first step to help overcome procrastination. Spend some time every day to focus on these tasks while visualizing your end goal.

The aim of this process is to boost your motivation to do the work such you can get it off your mind. We have all got specific objectives that can help motivate us to work hard everyday.

Take small steps.

Are you afraid of completing those big projects? Try not think about the intensity of any given project and take small steps towards achieving them.

Write down an outline of the project and start with any small and initial step. Commit yourself to doing those tasks that you do not like to do. The key here is to start. Once you commence working on those small steps, you would suddenly get the momentum and interest to go even further.

Think differently about the tasks.

Observe how you think about the things that you do not like to do. In most instances we tend to avoid tasks because we think a lot about its level of difficulty. Change the way you think to help eliminate any negative feelings from your mind. Choose to think/speak with enthusiasm and positivity to clear any mental blocks.

Avoid thinking negatively about the difficulty of any task. This will demotivate you to even make a start. The way you talk and think does affect your working habits.

Cut off the social media.

Social media looks exciting, but it can be very distracting. If you record the number of hours you spend on social media, you will be shocked at how much time we spend aimlessly scrolling our lives away.

Whenever you open any social media site, it distracts you from your line thoughts and blocks creativity. Every now and then I go through a ‘social media detox’ where I cut off social media such I can unwind and focus on my work.

Typically, our motivation comes and goes. Sometimes you have inspiration at the peak, but other times you may need to dig a little deeper to find a way to get yourself motivated.

The best way on how to get things done is to start and just do the work. Once you start it, remember to take regular breaks to recharge and avoid a burnout.
