The expression of our emotions and feelings is totally essential for our wellbeing and most importantly for our psychological balance. Although certain cultures are against the fact that expressing our emotions is a weakness; it should be noted that repressing how we feel is a mistake, since it will only make suffer.
So, without further ado, let delve into the today’s post which will encourage you to express your feelings, let it go and be happy.
I love this quote by Will Smith which states “human beings are not creatures of logic; we are creatures of emotion, and we do not care what’s true, we care how it feels”.
This means we are not robots, retaining emotions and not letting them out could cause irreparable damage to our health.
Human beings must be free and capable of expressing what they carry inside if they want to achieve inner peace and happiness, something that we should have been taught at school, because that need has always been there since we were little.
Now in our adulthood, we see a lot of people unable to manage their emotions and easily lash out to any trigger big or small. We might begin to repress what we feel, hiding, and generating problems that would otherwise have had quite a simple and sincere solution.
Phrases such as “men do not cry”, “feeling fear is for the weak” or “love letters are ridiculous” have done infinite damage throughout the planet, since it has been shown that the externalisation of emotions is essential in the life of any human being.
As the short Netflix film “The Secret” expresses well, people are constantly moving through a range of emotions, and recognising them is key such we can express the feelings, and let it go, free ourselves and be happy.

Thus, when we feel fear, the idea is not to reject it, ignore it, or pretend that it does not exist but rather the opposite, give it its space without drama and let it disintegrate in its own nature, knowing that everything happens, and that, thanks to the saddest states we can value emotions such as happiness and personal satisfaction.
Once we have recognised what is happening to us internally, we can choose to communicate it if we consider it necessary. Thus, we will always have people we trust who will be willing to listen to us, give us advice, accompany our tears, and support us in our grief and anxieties.
There is something magical when you meet the right person and you can speak up about how you feel. This friend/family member might not have to say anything. Just their presence will make you feel calm and grounded.

Expressing ourselves freely is something necessary for our existence. Communication helps us get out and clean ourselves from within, improve our affective relationships, and free ourselves from stones that make the backpack that we all carry everyday unknowingly to be heavy.
The ideal is to learn to manage emotions and communicate effectively from childhood, in fact, every single day. More schools should be able to offer emotional education and include group dynamics in which communication is worked in their classes.
I personally think it should be a part of the curriculum of every school. Even though, it is a pending issue for most and, although the road is long, it is undoubtedly worth it and something which the educational sectors can push for.
There are many tools to learn to express ourselves verbally, from specialised therapists to online courses, face-to-face workshops, self-help books, etc.

Do not doubt that your life will change radically if you improve the management of what happens to you from the inside. Learn to communicate freely when you want to, such you can heal those parts of you that have not been expressed with the right words.
The whole idea of this post is that you should be free to speak up and express your feelings and emotions to someone you trust, let those emotions out, let it go, heal yourself, be free, be happy because this life does not have a duplicate.
Learn to stay away from drama, protect your inner peace and take care of yourself.

This is so empowering in helping us to own our emotions. I absolutely agree on how those sorts of comments – like men don’t cry or how you need to be strong and not show emotion because it’s weak – have done “infinite damage”. Emotion is what makes us gloriously human and expressing it, really feeling and dealing with it all, including all the negative and sad feelings, is important for our mental and physical health. Excellent post! 🙂
It has definitely been an eye opening 6 months, and we’ve had to change our way of thinking. Including what makes us happy, and what’s important in life.
I totally agree that expressing our emotions is a part of letting them go and it’s definitely not a sign of weakness. Like you say, we are not robots.

I think it’s so important to expressed your feelings. So many of us internalize and that is so dangerous. We need to feel free to express and let go….to speak our minds and hearts. Lovely post.
