I am and have been a victim of putting things off repeatedly. Are you one of my partners-in-crime reading this now? Have you ever asked yourself why some people keep succeeding while those you think have really great ideas end up doing nothing? The answer to this question is commitment

I wrote about what successful people have that I don’t have and what you need if you want to achieve success. I emphasied on the point that achievers are those who go the extra mile in getting what they want. They go places that most people will not want to go or do the things that society may not approve of entirely. In addition to that, they sacrifice their comfort in other to achieve success.

Commitment is one of the greatest characteristics of successful people. They choose what they want to become in life and take full responsibility for doing it. They work productively and tiredlessly until it is achieved.

Commitment is all about meeting our own promises. Here are some characteristics of committed people.

Committed people:

  • Rarely give excuses

  • Are always decisive

  • Stay focused

  • Will do everything they can to get to where they want to be

  • They have a vision

Once you are not committed in what you want, you show proof that you are not trustworthy even to yourself. You will be very unlikely to succeed in whatever activity you want to engage in. This is because you don’t focus on what is important or urgent. Don’t take this harsh, because it is the truth.

I have learnt to understand that many of my projects that failed was because I lacked full commitment. The moment I got into blogging, I thought at first I will not be able to stay committed to my audience. However the love of reading and sharing with others has made me to stay committed for one year of blogging so far.

This means if you want to be successful in whatever plan you hope to achieve, you will need to take responsibility, stay focused and work productively towards achieving it. That’s what we call commitment.
