Every success in our life is, in principle, fed by many little habits. It is seldom the great, one-off action that will make us effective, successful, and happy. It is more about our habits or the things that are automatic, and we do it repeatedly. Therefore, a good way to be happier in life, is to build successful habits.
So, what are some of the habits that would make life better?
Do you have any books that keep you in a good mood, broaden your mind, and inspire you to be the better version of yourself? I’ve got a few of such books that have touched my heart and they keep directing my thoughts in a positive way.

Imagine what would happen if you can read such books for just 5 minutes everyday? A guidebook for your chosen religion is also good, but I personally like inspiring, non-fiction books and stories such as ‘The Monk who Sold his Ferrari’, The Power of Positive Thinking’ and ‘The Power of Now’ just to name a few.
If you get into the habit of reading a few pages of such inspiring books everyday, then – like every habit – it will leave some positive footprints in your life.
This exercise – done as a habit everyday – can change your life greatly. Sit down every evening and consider:
If you seek answers to these questions daily, then your thought process will shift its focus because for us humans, positive feelings of hope and gratitude helps us to feel happy and peaceful.
Incidentally, this exercise is MOST effective when you do it in writing, because when you write down your thoughts, you are entirely focused on the matter at hand to guide and channel your emotions.
It should be noted that you can still write the same thing everyday in your gratitude journal.
When journaling your thoughts, write down what you did well today and what you like about yourself. This exercise is very good for your self-confidence and self-esteem.
Most people find it difficult to come up with ideas of what they have done well or some of the things that are good about themselves. What might help here is for you to think and write down some of the things that you take for granted. This is because what is taken for granted by us, is far from being so for others.
For starters, you are currently reading this article which means you can see….is that not a good starting point? There are lots of people in the world this minute that will give you everything just so they can use their eyes again. Also, it is worth noting that gratitude is often disguised in those things that we ignore or no longer consider to be important.
Would you like a little task? Hope the answer is a yes. Write a list of all your small and large achievements, your positive characteristics, strengths, and abilities. Try this for 30 days, and you will be amazed. It will greatly increase your confidence and self-image.
So, what are the other habits to make your life better and successful?
Okay, please do not roll your eyes here. I am sure you already did (LOL). Please hear me out, I am not saying that you should get into gymnastics like the athletes who are prepping for the Olympic games. The idea here is to start with exercises that are easy and fun. For example, I do a 10-minutes stretching program just before bed to relieve the tension of the day from my muscles. I highly recommend this routine to be done either in the morning or evening.
Now over to you, what are some of the exercises that you like? Maybe something with a ball or a rubber band? Or a little yoga? Or just run on the spot for 3 minutes?
Any form of exercise, sport, and gymnastics, when practiced everyday, will help to keep you young and in shape.
It can be so easy to take care of every part of the body and totally forget that the mind also needs to be pampered. Or, in this case, more reassured. And here, meditation is our method of choice. Why not sit down and meditate for 5 minutes everyday?
The possibilities are endless. Sit down, close your eyes, and then give your mind something to do so it does not have to think so much.
Regular meditation has positively affected our cardiovascular system, and we become more relaxed and at ease. But that only happens if we do it regularly, i.e., as a habit.

Great ideas, thank you for sharing. I love journaling & practising gratitude is a really powerful way of shifting mindset. Can’t see me doing gymnastics though….
Thanks Molly for reading and for your input too.
Great tips! I completely agree with these although I admit I should probably read and write in my gratefulness journal a bit more often! 🙂
Thanks Roosa, please try it and let us know. Gratitude is a great tool to help us appreciate the current moment.
I always start doing these things with good intentions but then after a week or two I forget, I MUST make more effort to stick to these.
Consistency is the key Nikki. Thanks for reading and have a great day.
I love this post. It is so positive and achievable with just taking 5 minutes a day. I am off to share this with my reflexology clients! Thank you
Awww thanks so much
I keep meaning to start some sort of stretching practice and you’ve given me more reason to start. I already do everything else and they really help me stay positive.
Awww bless you and glad this article been useful.
Fantastic manageable tips, I always aim to read 10 pages a day.
Amazing! Thanks for your input Latoya
Love these, I particularly like writing things down and yoga is also something I love to do
Awwww thanks Emma for reading and for your input too
These are all fab suggestions! I have a list of inspiring books that I want to read, but can’t quite seem to find the time for. So, the idea of reading it for 5 minutes per day seems really manageable for me. 🙂 I do gratitude journaling daily and I have definitely noticed an improvement in my mood and happiness levels. This is a habit I will continue. I find meditation great too, but I can often let other things get in the way so I definitely need to work on making this habit stick. I also think writing down what I’ve done well would really benefit me. Thanks Yvette.
