Failure is the Best Teacher

Failure is generally seen as a situation which is not desired. It might arise because of not making good decisions in personal, work, or professional life. Karen Salmansohn highlighted that ‘often it is the deepest pain which empowers you to grow into your higher self’. This means failure is our best teacher.

When we look at any disappointment in this perspective, we can say that failure is the best teacher, because if you want to grow and achieve your goals, failure is essential for success.

It is not a secret that we are all afraid of failing, we are afraid that the results will not be as we visualise, imagine, or plot them. Feeling disappointed about not achieving your goals can affect anyone’s confidence. It is getting to 3 years since I started this journey to build my brand. I have had lots of turbulent times from having a total flop to no interest when launching a new product.

The fundamental thing is that from the mistakes we make, we always learn vital lessons that will help us in the future to do things better. If you stay in the negative mindset, and the consequences that this unfortunate decision brought, you will not advance and make progress in life. The most important thing is to have the ability to accept these failures, take responsibility for the consequences they attract, and make the decisions to overcome them in the future.

If you are still not so convinced that failure is the best teacher, here are some advantages of it, do not see it as a tragedy if things do not go as you expected, the important thing is for you to learn to overcome them and take advantage of future situations so they can lead you to success.

Learning.

Learning is stimulated by a desire to be better, to do things in the best possible way to obtain good results; if you fail, you will have the opportunity to improve while taking into account what you learned in your previous experience. We learn everyday and remember that everyone you meet on this planet will have a knowledge of something which you do not.

Problem resolution.

This skill is extremely important since you need to know how to respond or how to act in an extreme situation, you need to know how to think about the problem and think about its solution. These situations have the advantage that they activate your critical thinking, which will help you find the solutions more easily and practically next time.

Manage your emotions.

The initial reaction to failures is denial, followed by tears, frustration, or anger. It important to be aware how to manage these types of reactions because it is necessary to regulate them too. Failure helps you overcome adversities as well as recognise mistakes, accept them but above all, go ahead and find solutions effectively.

They help you grow.

The different consequences that attract an unexpected situation can generate great changes in your life, do not see them as something negative, and take them as challenges that will help you to get out of your comfort zone. Failure empowers you to go ahead, take risks, and even stimulate your imagination to resolve the situation, which can lead to the greatest freedom and success of your life.

Take a risk.

If you are used to things working without any change, like a clock, where everything is predictable, be careful, you could be living in mediocrity, with a flat, meaningless life that does not take you anywhere, perhaps because of the fear of losing, of failing you live a boring life. So, take a chance, this is part of the fun, and if you fail, you will learn the important lessons. The key fact here is that you went out of your way to try or change something, and you gave yourself a new opportunity to think out of the box if there was any box in the first place (smiley face).

Reveal your mistakes.

One of the benefits of failure is that it gives you an overview of your life, how you have handled past events, what you did well, and what you should improve for next time. Personally, I think failure is an essential component to the cycle of life and, the important thing is that it gives you a new opportunity to reflect and do much better next time.

It motivates you.

The fact that you lose or make mistakes can drive you to do better next time, for this reason, you prepare and take into account the things you did not see before. You have another chance to go on and do better. Failure is a powerful source for motivation, we do not stop at the first hurdle, we pick ourselves up and carryon. No matter how many times you fail, always revisit the reason why you started on that project in the first place.

It makes you stronger.

Failure makes you stronger, so you are more willing to take risks. By learning to deal with your mistakes, you gain more confidence to go out and try new ways to achieve your goals. With each risk, you learn something new, accept potential failure, and become stronger regardless of the outcome, as failure is a fantastic teacher.

Conclusively, do not let failure to stop you. Use that energy positively as a steppingstone to achieve your future goals and desires. “Just because you fail once, doesn’t mean you’re going to fail at everything. Keep trying, hold on, and always, always, always believe in yourself, because if you don’t, then who will sweetie?” Marilyn Monroe
